Homelessness 101: Principles on Housing First & Harm Reduction on ZOOM

Homelessness 101 is comprised of a series of 6 trainings covering basic content & best practices relevant and necessary for all people working in housing and homeless services. Quarter 4 of 2022 will address all 6 topics in November & December.  You do not have to attend them all or in any particular order.

Principles of Housing First & Harm Reduction: Harm Reduction is a best practice approach to quickly and successfully connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness to permanent housing without preconditions and barriers to entry, such as sobriety, treatment or service participation requirements. Housing First is also a philosophy that shapes the crisis response system and Coordinated Entry and is important knowledge for everyone, not just those working in Housing First programs. In this training we discuss the overlapping principles of these two strategies and how they fit into supportive housing programs.

Presented by: Warren Duncan grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. He has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. Much of his work has been in supportive services and he has had many roles including Case Manager, Supervisor, Regional Manager and Program Director. He is currently a trainer at People Incorporated.
