Office Hours with John Petroskas: General Assistance & MN Supplemental Aid on ZOOM

July 13, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

OFFICE HOURS are made possible by MESH members.  Your membership helps keep trainings affordable.  MESH works hard to identify professionals in topics you care about to provide these trainings. If you are a MESH member organization or individual – THANK YOU!  If you are not yet – please consider joining us as we all pool our resources together to educate, advocate and work to end homelessness.

OFFICE HOURS Description:

If you’ve ever had questions about General Assistance (GA) or Minnesota Supplemental Aid (MSA), here’s an opportunity to get answers from John Petroskas at DHS. Come with all your questions about eligibility, benefit amounts, program requirements, and anything else that’s on your mind.

DHS Specialist John Petroskas is here to help!

What’s up with Office Hours?

While our standard 2 hour trainings are a meaningful way to give you information & help you grow in your role, we know this format doesn’t always work for everyone—some don’t have two hours to dedicate to a training, some want to go deeper than a typical training, some need brief 1:1 coaching/guidance.

Office Hours are meant to provide you with more immediate access to MESH trainers—less structure and lecture, more of a conversation with an expert.

To help John prepare for this event and our Office Hour approach, we are seeking specific questions, areas of interest/concern, scenarios, etc in advance of the event.  All questions & scenarios will be anonymous.  You can also ask a question day of. Please include on your registration (questions? contact Michele at events@mesh-mn.org.)

Presenter Bio: John Petroskas is a policy specialist at the MN Department of Human Services.  He has worked in housing and homelessness for the last 16 years. John helped start the Housing First program at Catholic Charities, then managed supportive services at Higher Ground, an innovative shelter and housing program for adults with long histories of homelessness. He has also worked at MESH, the Wilder Foundation, and HUD.

How to register:  Although there is no cost, you must register to receive the Zoom link which will be provided the day before the event.  If you do not see the reminder email with the link – please check your spam/junk folder or email Michele right away.
