CEUs offered: 2

Course Description:

Older adults are the fastest growing population experiencing homelessness in Minnesota.  This training will cover unique challenges this population often face, best practices for serving them, as well as resources and senior housing options.

Presented by:  Danielle Horan is passionate about serving vulnerable older adults in our community and has worked with older adults in various roles for the last 8 years. She has been with the Homeless Elders program at Catholic Charities for the last year and a half serving older adults experiencing homelessness.  Danielle has experience in Assisted Living, long term care and resource counseling, health plan care coordination, and intensive case management.  Danielle has her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Minnesota and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker.

Lori Halbur is a Social Worker with Catholic Charities Homeless Elders Program who works with individuals over the age of 60 who are experiencing homelessness.  Lori believes that each elder experiencing homelessness deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and by utilizing person centered intensive case management she is able to assist them with accomplishing their goals, getting their needs met and help them to feel valued in a society that does not value aging.  Since the Fall of 2016, when Catholic Charites Homeless Elders Program was awarded a Department of Human Services Live Well Grant, Lori has assisted over 35 elders in securing housing.  Lori is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Master’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine’s University Social Work Program.
