Understanding Dementia & Older Adults Experiencing Homelessness on ZOOM

This training will offer an overview of the basics of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and describe how dementia can affect behavior and communication.  Attendees will learn the importance of practicing person-centered care in working with individuals living with dementia.  Videos, case studies and discussion will provide an interactive learning experience for professionals working with older adults who are experiencing homelessness as well as symptoms of dementia.  Resources from the Alzheimer’s Association and additional community resources will be provided.

Presenter Bio:  Jenna Pogorels is a Sr. Program Manager at the Alzheimer’s Association of MN/ND and licensed clinical social worker within the state of Minnesota. Jenna has been providing education and support services to individuals, families and communities impacted by dementia for over 7 years.
