Homelessness 101: Trauma Informed Care on ZOOM

Homelessness 101 is a series of trainings covering basic content relevant and necessary for all people working in housing and homeless services. Quarter 2 of 2021 will provide six sessions in the months of May and June.  You do not need to take these trainings in order.

Trauma Informed Care has become a bit of a cliché and many funders are requiring a “Trauma Informed Approach” but what is it really? This workshop takes a look at Trauma Informed Care from the perspective of someone who has experienced a traumatic event and then dives deeper into the psychology of trauma and recovery.  We will be talking about what to do (and not) as well as addressing some of the beliefs around Trauma.

Presented by: Geoff Meyer (He/Him) is currently the Director for Housing Services at St. Stephen’s Human Services (Doing Business As House of Charity) He has lived experience in homelessness both as a youth and a young adult. Geoff’ has worked in the world of Human Services since 1999 and specifically in the world of mental health, chemical health and homelessness since 2002, working with both youth/ adolescents and adults and in both locked and harm reduction/housing first models.

How to register:  Registration below is broken into Member & Non-Member.  If you are unsure whether you are part of a member organization or would like more information about membership, please contact Michele.  If you choose to pay by credit card, you will be walked through payment process and receive an automated email confirming your payment and registration.  If you choose to pay by check, you will receive an invoice from MESH.  If you are using a credit for a previously paid for training that was cancelled, choose pay by check and remind me you have a credit.  Payment is expected prior to training date.  Please contact Michele if scholarship help is needed.  You may register more than 1 person at a time and note the names in the space provided. I will send out the Zoom link the day prior.
