Course Description:

Housing for people with disabilities is often a patchwork of local, state, and federal policies and programs all which have complex eligibility criteria. This workshop will provide an overview of Housing Benefits (HB101), a DHS sponsored website that offers up-to-date information as well as interactive tools designed to support decision making.

Presenter Bios: Rajean Moone holds a BA in Psychology from the College of Saint Scholastica (Duluth, MN), a MS degree in Gerontology from Saint Cloud State University (St. Cloud, MN) and a PHD in Social Work from the University of Minnesota (St. Paul, MN). In addition he currently holds a nursing home administrator’s license in Minnesota. At Greater Twin Cities United Way he managed the largest non-government source of disability services funding in the state. Rajean consults with the Department of Human Services on disability policy including employment and housing services. He teaches Aging & Disability Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Heidi Sandberg holds a BA in Social Work from the College of St. Scholastica (Duluth, MN) and an Master’s in Public Administration from Hamline University (St. Paul).  Heid worked for years as a social worker in Public Housing, and also worked as a Public Housing Manager at the Minneapolis Public Housing Agency.  She worked as a Resource Developer at Dakota County Social Services, and currently works as a Housing Consultant at DHS, which includes managing the HUD Section 811 Project Based Rental Assistance Program and serving as the Lead for Housing Benefits 101 (HB101.org)

How to register: Registration below is broken into Member & Non-Member.  If you are unsure whether you are part of a member organization or would like more information about membership, please contact Michele.  If you choose to pay by credit card, you will be walked through payment process and receive an automated email confirming your payment and registration.  If you choose to pay by check, you will receive an invoice from MESH.  Payment is expected prior to training date.  Please contact Michele if scholarship help is needed.  You may register more than 1 person at a time and note the names in the space provided.  I will send out the Zoom link to participants the day prior to the training.   If you do not see the reminder email with the link – please check your spam/junk folder or email Michele right away.
